Virtual Volunteer Training!

Family Promise National has created virtual training videos https://familypromise.org/volunteer-training-videos/

We are so excited to be able to offer this new training opportunity – especially while our live training is on PAUSE until we can gather again!

So who should participate in virtual training?

  • New volunteers:

    • Are you interested in volunteering, but don’t know if you are ready to commit?

    • Do you just want to learn how Family Promise works?  Maybe you have seen or heard about it at your church but you didn’t really know what it is all about.

    • Maybe you just didn’t have time to sign up for training, or missed the training at your church?

  • Are you a volunteer already,

    • but are interested in hearing about volunteering from the perspective of Graduate Guests of the program?

    • it’s been a long time since you have been to training?

It takes less than 30 minutes to complete, and like many things happening in the world right now you can attend in your pajamas!

We will be notified when you complete the assessment questions (and you learn right away if  you are right!)   Then we can update our database that you are trained (or had updated training) in 2020!

Our team has been spending a lot of time working on the database while we are social distancing.  It helps us to have accurate records, so we can better communicate with our Family Promise family of volunteers, coordinators, and churches.

Some of our volunteers have been with our program since the beginning, some have joined in the last year. Do you have a story, a memory, will you share with us what do you love best about serving?  Email Lorrie – lcrockett@blountfamilypromise.org.  We really want to add more of our history to our website, and to our scrapbook.

We appreciate each and every one of you who cooks a meal, reads a story, serves an overnight, drives the van, sets up the rooms, does the laundry, etc. etc. etc.   It takes an army of volunteers to provide the shelter rotation… and when we no longer need to social distance we will be so happy to see you all again loving on our guest families!
