A few weeks ago I was walking into the Day Center when I noticed the chalk drawing in the picture above. The star reminded me of our Family Promise logo but it also reminded me of something much bigger. It reminded me that the kids here at Family Promise are attempting to have a normal childhood despite the experience of homelessness. They are no different than my own children who have often peppered the driveway at our house with chalk drawings. They have hopes and dreams and are capable of so much in the coming years.
Having a strong safety net can often make the difference for families at-risk of or experiencing homelessness. Family Promise provides that safety net here in Blount County and in over 200 communities across the United States.
That’s why on October 25 we are calling on all of our supporters to join together and pledge to be a part of the Family Promise safety net for families. This one-day online event aims to raise awareness of Family Promise and the crisis of family homelessness in the U.S. AND $1 million.
The good news is that you don’t have to wait until next week to give! You can participate now by clicking here. Your gift makes a difference. Your gift changes lives here in our community. Your gift, no matter the amount, helps children and their families thrive and move on beyond this program to a better life ahead. So I’m asking you to think about that chalk drawing above and of how your donation can help make sure the children in our program get to be kids. Please give support Giving Day and consider setting up a recurring gift that will help fund Family Promise of Blount County continue its mission in the years to come. We are working tirelessly to create a community where EVERY child has a home.
