Food Rescue

Family Promise of Blount County partners with so many other agencies and ministries.  Today we wanted to highlight Food Rescue!

There are restaurants in our community who faithfully provide leftovers for Family Promise families.

Papa Johns Panera Bread and Cheddars

There is often so much food that once we share with our Shelter and Transitional Housing families we can share with other ministries.

Ms. Dorothy Haislip calls herself a “transporter”  I can tell you she is also someone who volunteers selflessly in so many ways – and she has “Slept in every church!”  for Family Promise!

If you could have seen and heard some of the comments about the pizzas and Panera  at LCAC this morning…

The families were so grateful and appreciative today – more so than usual it seemed.

Most were complaining about their electric bills so I am guessing that some of their food money will be going to help with that.

Something else you can share if there is any doubt how valued Food Rescue is for the families that come in:

I wish I could show you the facial expression of an older man clutching his Pizza Box – it still fills me with emotion.  I offered to hold his pizza while he looked around.  Well, no way!! He clutched it that much closer to his chest.

Thank you! Thank you just does not seem adequate for all that you all do to help me.

I know God blesses you in ways you never dreamed.  I know He has me.    – Ms. Dorothy

If you are considering taking your family out to eat this week please consider supporting one of our Food Rescue partners!  Their love for the community is making a big impact at Family Promise of Blount County and at our partners agencies! Tell them Thank you for participating in Food Rescue!
