April Smith
Executive Director

April Smith our Executive Director since June 2022, has been with Family Promise of Blount County since 2016 first as a Case Manager for the Shelter, Transitional Housing, and Going Home, Staying Home Programs. April is grateful that she is able to work alongside each family in the many different programs by teaching budgeting, relationship building, teaching good tenancy classes, and providing a support system to help them become successful as the family obtains permeant housing.

April has lived in Blount County her whole life, graduated in 1998 from William Blount High School, and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in Child Development. April and her husband, Chip, reside in Maryville. Together, they have 3 teen children who attend schools in Blount County and an older son in Gainesville, FL who is making his path into adulthood.

I have been blessed to work with families in Blount County who have become homeless for a variety of reasons. Working with each family has given me the ability to change their lives just as they change mine daily for the better. There is no better feeling than overseeing a family as they work through their fears as they enter into the Shelter Program on day one and graduate into permanent housing with Family Promise Staff and Volunteers by their side. I pledge to work hard to change the lives of the children in the Blount County Community so that they too can have a place to call home.”
