Ribbon Cutting at the Second Chance, a Family Promise Thrift Store!

On Tuesday, January 21, we officially opened the Second Chance, a Family Promise Thrift Store!  Like everything we do, it was truly a community coming together to make this happen!

First we’d like to Thank Our Sponsors:

Jackie Mills spent quite a lot of time with us finding the perfect property for the store – and she has been a frequent face at the store and one of our favorite shoppers!

We also want to thank our newest sponsors, SERVPRO of Blount County and the Martin family:

We are grateful to The Daily Times for their coverage. The stories in the paper have brought so many people to the store.  People who have gently used clothing and furniture to give, people who want to buy, and people in need.  Most people say when they come in that they saw us in the newspaper!  CLICK HERE

Thank you also goes to the Blount Chamber of Commerce/Blount Partnership for the Ribbon Cutting event and the cake.

Shout out to Allevia Technology for posting the photos before we even got back to the office!

It was great to see so many friendly faces from Allevia, Blount Partnership, our Church Coordinators, the Downtown Referral Group Maryville, and all our community partners.

Thank you 434 Coffee in Seymour for providing the coffee,  and the lovely shopper from Madison Avenue Baptist Church who brought extra cups.

We truly appreciate our Board of Directors, our staff, and our volunteers who have made the thrift store an inviting place to find great deals!  They sort clothing, move furniture, and even wash dishes.  Special thanks to Megan Fair our store manager;  Jaquez Tyson, furniture pick up; and Dr. Philip Hoffman our Board Chair who all worked to get the store  up & running to provide for our families.

Our dream is for the store to provide clothing, furniture, and housewares to our families in need, to the families being served at partner agencies like Haven House, Good Neighbors, and other United Way of Blount County Helpline Agencies.  Our second dream is that the store provide funding for programs for Family Promise of Blount County.

Together we are creating a community where every child has a home.

If you would like more information on sponsorship opportunities, donations, or how to find agency resources please give us a call. 865-233-4737 is the number for both the Day Center offices and the Thrift Store.

The store is located at 705 E Lincoln Road in Alcoa.  It is open Tuesday – Saturday.  We hope you will stop by!
